Collateral Therapeutics
Client
Collateral Therapeutics, a subsidiary of Schering AG, develops gene therapies to treat various cardiovascular diseases as an alternative to such invasive therapies as coronary bypass surgery and angioplasty.
Challenge
The client asked Oskoui+Oskoui to develop a truly cross-platform multimedia CD for the company stockholders that required no special plugins or downloads. The designed interface had to display an array of formats, including video clips, PDFs, Flash animations, and various types of graphic formats.
Solution
The CD was authored using Macromedia's Director software. Special detectors were installed to scan the user's system setup and applications. Acrobat and QuickTime were directly installed on the CD, not requiring the user to download a particular version of Acrobat Reader or QuickTime. All PDF's were displayed directly inside the user interface with the help of a custom-designed application. All animations were scripted in Flash.
Result
The CD is a complete success, working on both Macintosh and Windows platforms. All content is universally accessible and all media work seamlessly, including printable PDFs.
