10 Bizarre Political Ads
No matter what your stance on politics, you have to agree that this new ad for Herman Cain is a little strange to say the least (see the lit cigarette and the drawn-out grin above). While the political arena is usually filled with rhetoric and appeals to Americans, some ads over the years have done so in ways that are definitely bizarre. Here are six other political ads that are out there.
Mike Kravel
……………………………………………… I’d describe this one, but you really should just have a look for yourself. If you’re looking for the action, skip to 1:10
Mike Huckabee
Mike Huckabee appealed to the tried and true (and now somewhat) tired Chuck Norris meme to tell some facts about the actor while Chuck Norris returns the favor. Definitely one of the weirder ads out there.
Mike Weinstein
In this video montage, we see Mike Weinstein representing District 19. While it gets across the usual political messages, it takes a more rhythmic approach (and keyboard fills) than most other advertisements.
John Oxendine
John Oxendine’s advertisement starts off like a strange “the tortoise and the hare.” The animation and the narration tell a bizarre tale indeed.
Rudy Moise
This political advertisement seems to be reaching out to the strong hip-hop influence in Miami, but I’m not sure that DJ Khaled and T-Pain would approve of the production values. Perhaps they should have been brought in as creative consultants.
Carly Fiorina
In this advertisement, Carly Fiorina’s opponent Tom Campbell is likened to a demonic sheep who singlehandedly masterminded the California budget crunch. Whatever your thoughts on the state of California, we have to ask the same question that the video asks: “Might there be a better choice” in explaining your political platform?
EMILY’s List
Created by EMILY’s List, a grassroots political organization, this video is a response to Sarah Palin’s video where she discusses mama grizzlies defending their cubs. It certainly addresses the subject matter of Palin’s video in a direct way.
Dale Petersen
After losing the primary for Alabama Agriculture Commissioner, Dale Petersen lists his credentials, endorses former opponent John McMillan for the position, and threatens a trespasser stealing his political sign with a warning shot.
John Hickenlooper
You can simply run a clean campaign or you can do this. Hickenlooper’s ad illuminates his approach to political advertisements in a literal way.
